My Fav Spring/Summer 2010 collections

My top Spring/Summer 2010 collections...

Even though it's god damn cold everywhere (yes, even here in "sunny California"), my mind is wandering to all the awesome things I could blow my money on for Spring. These are the collections I found to be my OVERALL favorites and why....The first is Chanel..

CHANEL

Oh, Karl Lagerfeld, sometimes I don't want to like you, (face it, you are a living, breathing SNL character) but wow, do I love your spring Chanel collection! The mix of prarie and sexy and classic Chanel is awesome! The dresses mix flower and flounce, with somehow not looking toooo sacharine sweet. The flower printed cardigan is my absolute favorite...would...kill...for...it.

And the tough studded black faded jeans, classic jacket and iconic chains--sewn into the front as a psuedo-belt instead of around the neck. Jean--ious! Yup, I said it. jean-ious. This collection makes me want to put some little flowers in my hair.

My Barbie Dream

Versace!

This collection is every Barbie doll dream I ever had as a child. I honestly think I had that blue and silver dress in my Barbie collection, or that's at least how I remember it! Cotton Candy and bright colors and metallics! Who else could pull this off so sublimely. She also managed to throw in some great prints--see the green top and sheer skirt combo. The detail on the top/jacket is amazing. Though, I'd recommend, in general, not wearing a sheer skirt with underwear (oh, some idiot starlet will try, ugh). But, line the skirt for everyday wear and it's oddly suitable for work to a night out.

This dress' neckline is so sexy, combine with sugar and shine and I am in love.

And who doesn't like sparkle-y things.

Next, my love of the spring Alexander McQueen collection.

3rd Spring Fave---oh Alex

I actually gasped when I first saw this collection. I know it's a little crazy, but the prints on the fabric are amazing and one of the most creative collections I've seen in a long time. Taking a dye and textile class, and thinking about the work that must have gone into each of these pieces is insane. So beautiful, yet tough and futuristic and, yes, bug-like. The shape of the skirt and collars are cool, and go so well with the dyed fabric. I could just stare at this collection all day. It definitely appeals to my artistic side.

Now, given, I know no one in their right mind is going to walk down the street with each ensemble as is, but take a one of those print tops and add a pair of slacks. Or the bottom half of the dress and add a blouse or tank...ahhhhhhhhhh. Seriously, take your hand put it over the top or bottom of each dress and imagine a calmer bottom. Do it now! I am so in love with this.

Honorable mention Valentino

I just had to add Valentino, even though the muted colors aren't eye-catching, the textures are amazing, just look at the structured ruffle, beige jacket and skirt. Looks amazing together and would look amazing as separates.

The dresses continue the texture theme of lace and ruffles, but so wonderfully ballerina pretty. All please!
